There is no ‘draft list for closure’ or ‘draft list for cuts’. LFEPA members from all parties have been involved in discussions looking at how LFEPA can best achieve the balance of providing the service the public need with less money available. As yet, there is no set blueprint for how that balance will be reached and no decisions have been made.
In preparation for future decisions on London Safety Plan 5 (LSP5), modelling has been carried out to demonstrate the different ways that changes to operational resourcing could be made. The modelling brings together aspects of the service including attendance times, the cost of different ways of providing the service and estate issues. These different outcomes of the modelling have been shared with LFEPA members and trade unions representatives alike. Some of the modelling has included a presumptions that some stations will be protected from closure because they have recently received, or are due to receive, substantial levels investment, or because they have special physical characteristics such as being capable of housing very heavy specialist vehicles. More recent modelling has also been carried out without these presumptions.
A draft London Safety Plan will be considered at the LFEPA meeting on 22 November 2012 and then a full public consultation will be held. The final LFEPA decision on the plan will be made in March 2013.
