Dismore reveals continuing risk to Finchley Road bus services after TfL botched route 13 consultation

Andrew Dismore, London Assembly member for Barnet and Camden has published the email response he has just received to his complaint about the plan to axe bus route 13, which threatens other cuts to Finchley Road services. (See below)

Mr Dismore said:

‘Whilst the email from Leon Daniels gives excuses for the botched route 13 consultation, there is  a sting in the tail- services on Finchley Road are not at all safe from cuts. Mr Daniel states:

Given the strength of feeling on the loss of route 13, we took the decision on 17 April not to proceed with the scheme in its current form.  We will however use the information from the consultation responses received to inform future bus network planning in the Finchley Road and Abbey Road areas.

There does remain excess capacity on Finchley Road and given the constraint on public finances we are obliged to work to ensure good value to the London taxpayer.

So the risk to services remains. TfL are very likely to  bring forward cuts  either to route 13 in a  different form, or go after other routes for cuts.

I am  therefore  writing  to TfL  asking to for details of what other plans they have, as I am sure that local residents will have something to say, if they decide to cut services again.’
