Together, we can show that Golders Green is a unified community.

This is the text of a letter that has been sent out to businesses in Golders Green from myself on behalf of the local community and Golders Green Together. Please support the community through a show of Gold and Green!

Dear business owner,

I am sure that by now you would have heard about the Far Right led demonstration in Golders Green, planned for Saturday July 4th, which is specifically targeting the local Jewish community with its antisemitic scorn. Not only is this an affront against our Jewish community, it is an affront against all communities in Golders Green that contribute to our rich fabric.

As the Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden, I have been one of many voices that have spoken up on this issue. I have called for the banning of the demonstration, and failing that, the imposition of restrictive conditions on it. However, there is a real chance that the demonstration will still go ahead as planned.

This is why I am supporting the Golders Green Together campaign, which has been organised by the London Jewish Forum, anti-racist organisation Hope Not Hate, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and supported by CST.

Golders Green Together provides an opportunity for us all, whatever our affiliations, to join in unity against this provocation in a dignified and appropriate way. At its launch a couple of weeks ago I stood with politicians from different political parties and friends of different faiths and none. With a united voice, we made it clear that Golders Green is stronger than the division fringe Far Right groups wish to sow.

You can also help.

One call to action made by Golders Green Together is to decorate the area in Gold and Green colours and display posters in solidarity with the campaign and each other. Delivered with this letter, you will find a poster which you can put up in your window. I also urge you to decorate your business with Gold and Green colours on Friday July 3rd.

Together, we can show that Golders Green is a unified community.

Thank you,

Andrew Dismore
