Dismore meets TfL managers over night tube noise issues at Colindale and West Hampstead

Andrew Dismore, London Assembly member for Barnet and Camden has met with senior Northern and Jubilee line managers, to raise concerns over tube train noise once the weekend night tube starts on September 12th.

Mr Dismore said:

‘I have had complaints about tube noise in the light of the forthcoming introduction of the night tube.

‘I had a very long and constructive discussion with senior Northern and Jubilee line managers, and inspected the track at Colindale.

‘TfL have now agreed to put mitigation measures in place before 12th September with some immediate track maintenance which they think will significantly improve the noise problem.

‘At Colindale, this includes improving the alignment of some track joints, and improving the support under the track on the northbound line near the station

‘At West Hampstead, they have promised to replace 90 m of worn rails, repair support pads between the rails and sleepers, and stabilise sleepers on the northbound Jubilee line.

‘In the longer term they will remove the now redundant joints and crossings on the track (which are no longer needed due to the new signalling system), which will also help, but this work would be at least a year away as it is needs budget approval which is subject to the extent of the cuts expected in the Conservative Government spending review in the Autumn.’
