Changes to King’s Cross Gyratory

I received the bellow letter regarding changes to the King’s Cross gyratory:

Dear Stakeholder

We seeking your views on our initial ideas to change the King’s Cross gyratory.  Your views will help to inform the designs we take forward to the next stage of design.

As part of the Road Modernisation Plan and in partnership with Camden and Islington Councils, we have been reviewing the road network in King’s Cross with the aim of delivering substantial improvements and making King’s Cross a better place to live, work and visit.

We have developed a set of preliminary ideas for the road network in the King’s Cross area and we are now seeking your views on these.  These aim to simplify the local road network for all road users and improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.  They include:

·         Introducing two-way traffic on many of the streets that currently operate as one-way.  This would reduce the length of some traffic and cycle journeys

·         Reducing traffic on some (mainly residential) streets to improve the local environment.  This would benefit both pedestrians and cyclists

·         Providing new and improved pedestrian crossings at key junctions.  This would enable the area to function better for pedestrians

·         Improving the local cycle network through the provision of new cycle facilities.  These could include contra-flow cycle lanes on remaining one-way roads as well as new cycle crossings at key junctions

The plans for King’s Cross are still at an early stage and we would like to hear your views to help inform the designs we take forward during the next year. A second consultation in early 2017 will provide more detailed information on the benefits and impacts of any final proposed changes.

For further information about these ideas and to complete our online survey please visit our consultation portal.  You can also email us your views consultations@tfl.gov.uk

Yours views are important to us.  Please ensure that you submit your comments no later than 20 March 2016.

Lastly, we will also be holding four drop-in events where members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions about these plans.  Please feel free to come along and find out more:
