The Mayor indicated that while he could not undo decisions that had already been taken, for any future regeneration estate decisions, the views of residents would come first, and their right to be rehoused on the estates would be protected. The Mayor also agreed to visit Bacton Estate, a Camden regeneration project, where residents had bene properly consulted and were being rehoused in new homes on the estate.

After MQT Mr Dismore said:

‘With a new Mayor, we have a new policy of putting the interests  of existing residents first. Whilst old decisions cannot be overturned, Sadiq Khan will ensure that future regeneration will only happen after proper consultation and protection of the rights of existing residents, include the right to be rehoused in the new homes. This can be contrasted with the way the previous Mayor rode roughshod over people in his desire to provide homes for the wealthy at the expense of council tenants and leaseholders.’
