Dismore demands action on Cricklewood bus stop

London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has called on Barnet Council to “strain every sinew” to reinstall a much needed bus stop for the 245, 260 and 460 routes outside the Virgin Active gym on Cricklewood Lane.

After a meeting between Transport for London, the Police and Barnet Council, it was agreed to reinstall the bus stop. But for the plans to go ahead, Barnet Council need to consult residents on proposed changes to the road layout and parking spaces.

Mr Dismore has written to Barnet Council asking them to speed up the process, and ensure the consultation and any accompanying works are completed as soon as possible.

He said:

‘I have been supporting local residents for years in trying to get this much needed bus stop back. I am pleased that under the new Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan there is a much greater understanding of the needs of local residents, after years of Boris Johnson just not listening.

‘But Barnet need to strain every sinew to get this done as soon as possible, and ensure everything is in place to complete the consultation, then enact the necessary works so the bus stop can go in.’

Local resident Anne Clarke said:

‘I am thrilled with this, we have been campaigning for years to get this bus stop back. It is a pity that Barnet Council are again clogging up the process, and I hope they can get their act together so we can finally get the bus stop back. It is a very long way between the stops and far too far for residents to have to walk between Dersingham Road and Cricklewood Broadway’.
