Cheers as Kisharon application passes

At the Barnet Council Hendon area planning committee on Thursday 9th February, the application to extend Kisahron’s Parson Street premises was approved. This extension will accommodate an expanded Kisharon School from 30 places to 70, providing Jewish community children with learning disabilities.

The application was approved by 5-1, with one abstention. Local Labour London Assembly Member Andrew Dismore wrote a supporting letter, arguing that there was an “acute need for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provision” in the Borough.

Commenting on the news, Mr Dismore said:

Whilst there were some understandable concerns, this is a special case. Barnet has woefully failed to provide sufficient SEND school places, and Kisharon does an excellent job and is well respected.’

‘Given our large local Jewish community, this is a vital specialist service, so I am pleased that the application has been passed. I am also grateful to the Committee chair for acknowledging   my support. ’
