Dismore seeks action on Anti-Semitic tube stickers

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has written to the Deputy Mayor of London for Transport, Val Shawcross to regarding the incident in January when stickers with swastikas and anti-Semitic messages were stuck up around Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden Underground stations.

CCTV images of a man the police are seeking to question have been circulated (and can be seen here)

Mr Dismore said:

I have written to Val to see how the investigation is going, and to see if there are more measures Transport for London (TfL) can take to prevent these instances happening again. We know that anti-Semitic incidents are on the rise and it is completely unacceptable that members of the Jewish community should feel intimidated using public transport.’

‘I will continue to monitor the situation, but I have real concerns that rising anti-Semitism and Islamophobic incidents and attacks in the wake of the Brexit vote and election of Donald Trump are becoming more frequent and more serious.’
