Dismore welcomes new Camden Council leader

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has welcomed Camden Labour Group’s nomination of Kentish Town Councillor Georgia Gould as Leader of Camden Council. Cllr Gould, formerly cabinet member for young people, adults and health, was elected at the annual general meeting of the Camden Council Labour Group.

Mr Dismore said:

‘I am sure Georgia will do an excellent job leading the Council, she is tenacious, hard-working and understands well the challenges the Council will face. She is part of the new generation of very talented young Labour councillors who are already making a mark on London.’

‘I want to conclude by paying tribute to Sarah Hayward, who was recognised as one of the best Council leaders in the country. She led the Council through an extremely challenging period, as the Government cut millions of pounds from the Council’s budget, and tough choices had to be made. I think Sarah managed the change well, and encouraged the Council to be innovative, making the most of the resources they had. I wish her well for her future.
