Dismore welcomes improvements to hospital bus services, but says Finchley Memorial must stay on the agenda

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has welcomed an announcement by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan that bus services to hospitals would be reviewed.

Some changes are likely to benefit residents of Barnet and Camden. Whittington Hospital may see bus services entering the hospital site. Links to Barnet Hospital from Edgware and Mill Hill have been identified as in need of improvement, and need for a bus link between Finchley and Royal Free Hospital have been noted.

Mr Dismore said:

‘This was an important review, and I hope we will soon see concrete proposals. I am especially pleased that after years of campaigning that the need for a bus service between Finchley and the Royal Free Hospital has finally been noted by TfL. We are still some distance from getting this service, but at least we are moving in the right direction.

‘My only note of concern was that there was no mention of improving services to Finchley Memorial Hospital. I fear this is becoming an unvirtuous circle, whereby a lack of services based at the hospital means lower demand for a service, which in turn makes it harder to commission services at the hospital. I will be meeting TfL officers to make the case for this to be prioritised.’
