Uber should be required to park off-street to avoid more Colindale fiascos- Dismore

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore wrote to Val Shawcross, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport to ask that when TfL review the licence for Uber, should it be granted, that the ride-hailing company is required to park its fleet of cars on their own premises, rather than on residential streets.

Mr Dismore has previously written to Ms Shawcross about Uber parking their fleet around Hyde House in Colindale, blocking up residential streets.

Mr Dismore said:

‘There must be some control on companies like Uber. They and their associated businesses and drivers  should not  be allowed to park in residential areas, preventing residents from parking on their own roads. They should be required to keep their fleet in their own premises.’

‘It has been a nightmare getting Barnet Council to do anything, they lack imagination and any ability to think creatively about how to solve problems, so it is best to tackle these problems at source, and as part of their licence.’
