Dismore welcomes £20,000 fund for Edgware green space

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has welcomed the decision of the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to grant £19,988 to Edgware Parochial Church Council to transform the churchyard at St Margaret’s in Edgware, into an accessible multifunctional green space for the community. The churchyard will be a safe and sustainable sanctuary for all, with improved natural pathways and new trees, hedges and wildflowers.

A total of £1.13m has been awarded to 55 projects through the Mayor’s Greener City Fund Community Green Space Grants 2018. Projects have been awarded between £5k and £50k each. These projects will run from now until the end of the year, and aim to improve and increase green space across London. They give community groups and local people the chance to design and create new and improved spaces, helping to make London the first National Park City.

Mr Dismore said:

‘This is very welcome news for the people of Edgware, who for years have had to put up with the Conservatives on Barnet Council letting them down, and overdeveloping Edgware, with no consideration for the needs of local residents. Sadiq Khan, unlike Barnet Council, understand the importance of improving our green spaces and having places where the community can relax.’
