Finchley Central lifts to be repaired sooner, after Dismore intervention

The step-free- access lifts at Finchley Central Station are now to be repaired in March, following a complaint by Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore. Originally, the lifts, which broke down in December, was due to be repaired between April and May, a 5-month delay.

An officer for TfL wrote to Mr Dismore that:

“The lift is out of service as its motor has failed, a major and bespoke component. Once delivered, it will require installing in an awkward part of the lift to access which takes time.”

Mr Dismore said:

‘A five month delay to the service was totally unacceptable, especially as TfL are telling passengers that they need to travel all. The way up to High Barnet, and travel back down to use the southbound lift! I am still seeking clarification about when in March the repair work will take place, as it still isn’t being repaired soon enough as far as I am concerned.’
