Working Men’s College win £200,000 Mayoral Grant

The Working Men’s College on Crowndale Road in Camden has been awarded £200,000 from the Mayor of London’s Skills for Londoners Capital Fund. The fund aims to transform the capital’s skills provision by delivering 21st century, fit-for-purpose education and training facilities at further education colleges and other providers across the city.

The award will fund a refurbishment of the historically listed college building, to create a more comfortable learning environment. The project will be environmentally sustainable, using a low CO2 emission system utilising thermal mass of the original construction for cooling.

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore welcomed the news, saying:

‘This is yet more good news for Camden, and demonstrates Sadiq Khan’s commitment to improving skills and adult education in London. With technology and skills advancing at a greater pace, the need to retrain and up-skill is ever more important. London must have the skills and talent to meet the challenges of the future to stay the greatest city in the world.’
