Mayor’s investment in Woodhouse College welcomed by Dismore

Woodhouse College has been awarded £66,667 out of the Mayor of London’s Skills for Londoners Capital Fund, which aims to transform the capital’s skills provision by delivering 21st century, fit-for-purpose education and training facilities at further education colleges and other providers across the city.

The award is to assist in the Installation of retractable seating, which would greatly enhance the learning experience and physical appearance of the main hall. It would enable more assemblies, subject specific talks and wider curriculum opportunities to be held because the seating could be set up and taken down much more quickly, thereby allowing this space available for a wide range of opportunities during the day. This refurbishment will also enable the College to hire the hall to the local community for musical events and talks, providing a cost-effective facility in the evenings and at weekends and much needed revenue for the college.

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore welcomed the news, saying:

‘This is a great investment in Woodhouse College. More schools and colleges are seeking to install retractable seating, which allows for greater flexibility in the use of space. I am pleased that Sadiq is helping to fund these sorts of programmes, which vastly benefits both the community and the college students.’
