Woodside Park Station to get face-lift

Transport for London (TfL) have announced that they will be undertaking works to improve the look of Woodside Park station after an intervention by Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore.

In a written question to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Mr Dismore asked:

‘Will you ask TfL to look at Woodside Park underground station, where over the years various unsightly additions have been made which detract from the architecture and appearance of the original design from 1864, and in particular the unsightly electrical conduits and trunking, to see what can be done to improve the appearance?’

Transport for London have informed Mr Dismore that they have now completed their survey of the station, and removed a disused repeater (formerly part of the signalling equipment) and associated black bag from the exterior of the station. They will also be removing a redundant sign, and carrying out work to improve the Wifi coverage at the station. In addition the ticket hall and waiting rooms are to be repainted in April 2018.

Mr Dismore said:

‘I received a letter from the Finchley Society who made these observations. I am really pleased that Sadiq has listened to residents concerned and is investing in the station to make it a better experience for passengers.’

Councillor Alan Schneiderman, Barnet Labour Group lead on environment said:

‘I am really pleased that Andrew and Sadiq have been working together to improve Woodside Park Station with practical measures. We remember that the Last Conservative Mayor of London’s attempt to invest in North Finchley led to most of his Outer London Fund grant being taken up by consultants. This time we have real and practical measures to improve the passenger experience.’
