Sadiq Khan invests £200,000 in Grahame Park Old Library

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has awarded £200,400 to Notting Hill Genesis to help transform the “Old Library” into a dynamic multi-use enterprise, skills and community hub in the heart of Grahame Park, Colindale. The award is from a £30 million fund for projects which will boost local economies, improve the environment and bring people together in some of London’s most deprived communities.

The money has been awarded through the second round of the Mayor’s Good Growth Fund to 33 projects across the city – and will be delivered through the London Economic Action Partnership (LEAP), the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for the capital. The projects focus on supporting Londoners in areas with high levels of unemployment, youth violence and poor mental health, by supporting the creation of new jobs, investing in community assets and driving sustainable economic growth.

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore welcomed the news, saying:

‘This is a very welcome grant from Sadiq to one of the poorest and deprived parts of the country. Grahame Park is forgotten by Barnet Council, who only see the megabucks of regeneration and don’t care about the people who live there now, which is why it is so neglected. Sadiq is putting money directly into the local community where they need it.’

Colindale Councillor Nagus Narenthira added:

‘As one of the councillors of Colindale I know how much this will mean to the present residents of Grahame Park who live in deprived conditions with lack of aspiration, all because of the neglect by Tory run Barnet Council. We evidence this day in and day out in our surgeries and other communications with residents. Thanks to Sadiq and Andrew for this much needed investment in Grahame Park to help the lives of these residents.’
