Dismore supports plans to preserve West Finchley

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has given his support to the establishment of a Neighbourhood Development Plan in West Finchley. The aim of the plan is to ensure residents of West Finchley can positively influence the future of their neighbourhood over the next 15 years. The Neighbourhood Plan acts both as a community strategy and a formal planning policy document.

Mr Dismore said:

‘It is very important to protect these communities, which have a strong architectural and cultural heritage. In particular, I am pleased to see some control over conversions of family homes into flats, which places enormous pressure on local facilities and infrastructure.’

West Finchley Labour Councillor Ross Houston said:

‘This local plan is a result of years of hard work by the West Finchley Residents Association and the West Finchley Area Forum. It has been a privilege to have been a part of the Forum and I have really enjoyed attending the meetings with Cllr Danny Rich. The local ward councillors fully support this excellent initiative which we hope will be the first of many Neighbourhood Plans in Barnet.’
