Camden Youth Services rated outstanding

Camden Council’s youth services have been rated as outstanding by HM inspectorate. Camden has now become the first borough in London to be rated outstanding under the new inspection framework.

Local London Assembly Member, Andrew Dismore AM, said:

“I welcome this excellent news and congratulate the staff, young people and the Council on their incredible achievement. Camden Council really set themselves apart from others for their commitment to young people, and their persistent investment in youth services, despite draconian cuts by the Conservative Government.”

Labour Candidate for Barnet and Camden Cllr Anne Clarke agreed with Mr Dismore, adding:

“I represent a part of Barnet that sits on the border with Camden, and the differences in attitude and culture between Conservative-run Barnet and Labour-led Camden is stark. Barnet cut youth services to the bone and were found to be inadequate, whereas Camden have real faith in their young people. They value arts and culture, they have a vision and they put their money where their mouths are. This is a vindication of their approach.”
