Rapper Wiley is not welcome in Golders Green

Grime artist Wiley has posted a message on Facebook stating that he plans on visiting Golders Green in the aftermath of controversial comments posted to his twitter feed last week. The artist was banned from the platform after a 48-hour boycott to protest against inaction by the social media giant.

Writing on Facebook, he said “Who called the police? Are you from Golders Green? I am coming to sit down with you in Golders Green…” and in another post “Golders Green yes see you soon I will come on my own.”

London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore said:

“There is no place for antisemitism. It is interesting that Wiley has threatened to come to Golders Green, much as the far right did several years ago. He is not welcome. Golders Green is a strong community thanks to its diversity, and neither welcomes nor needs the divisive presence of someone who wishes to antagonise the local Jewish community.”
