Latest addition to “Barnhattan” opposed

A scheme for three new tower blocks of 20 to 24 storeys in Colindale have been objected to by local London Assembly Member Andrew Dismore. The proposal to build 470 units on the Colindale Toyota site is controversial with local residents, as it is the fourth major development containing tall buildings along the A5.

London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore said:

“Barnet’s obsession with creating a “Barnhattan” of very tall buildings, with no planning for infrastructure to accompany it will make life worse for existing residents.  This is the fourth major development on this short stretch of the A5 leading to huge pressure on local services.”

“But my question to Barnet’s Tories and Lib Dems, who feign discomfort about overdevelopment in Finchley and Barnet, is why they don’t care about the continued massive overdevelopment in Colindale. They should stop ignoring Colindale and stop dumping huge buildings here.”
