MQT Answer: Bonuses at Transport for London

Bonuses at Transport for London

Question No: 2069 / 2012

Andrew Dismore

How much will senior TfL staff be receiving in bonuses for the Olympics?

Written response from the Mayor

TfL senior staff do not receive bonuses. Neither will they receive performance related pay purely related to the Olympics.

The Commissioner, Chief Officers and Directors of TfL are eligible for an annual performance payment. This is determined against a range of criteria including TfL, business unit and personal performance targets. The delivery of a successful transport network during the Games forms part of the performance criteria being measured for 2012-13 awards.

Annual performance awards for the Commissioner and Chief Officers earned in respect of 2010-11 and 2011-12 performance targets have been deferred in full pending performance against additional criteria concerning the successful delivery of the transport network during the Olympics and Paralympics. This arrangement cannot deliver any enhancement to the awards previously earned but instead places them at risk of reduction if the Games targets are not met.

Similarly, 25 per cent of the annual performance awards budgets for Directors (below Chief Officer) for 2010-11 and 2011-12 have been deferred pending performance against additional criteria concerning the successful delivery of the transport network during the Olympics and Paralympics.
