MQT Answer: New Bus Route for Kings Cross

New Bus Route

Question No: 2087 / 2012

Andrew Dismore

Will you provide a bus route to service up and down Camley Streetand down St Pancras Way?

Written response from the Mayor

TfL has looked at ways of better serving this area. Consideration was given to running route 46 along the full length ofSt. Pancras Way. However, TfL and the London Borough of Camden could not find a suitable location for a southbound bus stop nearBarker Drive, the link through toCamley Street. Without this the benefits of diverting the service could not be realised.

Camley Street itself is a cul-de-sac. Therefore a service would have to double run in both directions with substantial increases in journey time for through passengers. Looking at route 46 for example, it would increase journey times for the 2,700 existing passengers per day who travel between Kings Cross andCamden, and increase the cost of running the route.  TfL therefore have no current plans to run services atCamley Streetor the full length ofSt Pancras Way.
