Barnet & Enfield Assembly Members object to Cat Hill development

Labour London Assembly Members Andrew Dismore (Barnet & Camden) and Joanne McCartney (Enfield & Haringey) have written to Enfield Council emphasising their renewed objections to the proposed development for Cat Hill.

In the letter of objection to Enfield Council they highlight the lack of changes made by developer L&Q to the original planning application, despite Joanne McCartney’s original objections. Grounds for objection especially relate to infrastructure and the proposed development’s effects on local roads, schools and medical services’ capacity.

Both Assembly Members believe that concerns over flooding, especially to the North West, have not been sufficiently addressed.

Joanne McCartney AM said:
“When I originally opposed this planning application in November 2011 I expected the developer to come back and address the critical issues such as infrastructure. It is clear that the renewed plans are far from ready and I urge Enfield Council to reject the planning application”

Andrew Dismore AM said:
“I give my full backing to the local campaign group and agree that the developers need to rethink this proposal.
Last week I spoke out about a lack of infrastructure for the proposed development on the Peel Centre in Colindale. Whilst I am glad that the local Conservative councillors are joining me and Joanne in opposing the Cat Hill proposals, I think that it is outrageous hypocrisy from the East Barnet councillors to oppose this development whilst supporting the overdevelopment in Colindale.”
