Upper Holloway Bridge replacement update

Residents of Barnet and Camden may be affected by the works on the A1 in Holloway, please read the below.

Upper Holloway Bridge replacement update: full closure of the A1 Holloway Road moved from 25-28 November to 2-5 December 2016

As you know, a full closure was in place on the A1 Holloway Road last weekend, from 18 to 21 November. During this closure, we discovered a series of pipes and cables which had not been laid at the depths we expected and, as a result, we have had to change the order in which we will carry out the remaining utilities works. In order to accommodate this, the full weekend closure of the A1 Holloway Road will take place on 2-5 December, rather than 25-28 November as originally planned

This change means that we are still on programme to demolish and replace the bridge over the Christmas/New Year period. It also enables us to keep the road open during the Arsenal match next weekend.

Shops and businesses on the A1 Holloway Road remain open during the closures, and the Archway Christmas Lights event will go ahead in Archway Mall on Friday 2 December. Please visit www.archwaylondon.com/life/archways-christmas-lights-2016 for more information about this event.

Full weekend closure of the A1 Holloway Road from 2 to 5 December

The A1 Holloway Road remains closed to southbound traffic between the junctions of Fairbridge Road and Wedmore Gardens. This section of the A1 will be closed in both directions from 22:00 on Friday 2 December to 05:00 on Monday 5 December. If the works are completed ahead of schedule, we will re-open the road earlier.

Traffic will be diverted away from the area by a series of signs across London and on strategic routes into the Capital. For local traffic, a signed diversion will be in place along Junction Road and Tufnell Park Road/ Brecknock Road. Please visit tfl.gov.uk/upper-holloway-bridge for further information.

Access will be maintained to local shops and businesses.
