Dismore congratulates new Chipping Barnet Labour candidate Emma Whysall
Labour Party Members selected Emma Whysall as their Parliamentary candidate to take on incumbent Conservative MP Theresa Villiers. Ms Whysall, a solicitor, was parliamentary candidate during the 2017 election, and cut Ms Villiers majority to just 353, down from 7,656. Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore endorsed Ms Whysall and congratulated her on her selection.
Mr Dismore said:
‘I warmly congratulate Emma on her selection, she is a dedicated and hardworking activist who is best placed to finish the job she started last time, and defeat one of the biggest cheerleaders for Brexit. Chipping Barnet voted 62% remain, but currently has one of the biggest Brextremists in Parliament, who support the hardest possible Brexit.
‘Emma works for Thompsons Solicitors, where I used to work, supporting Trade Unions. Parliament needs more people to speak out on behalf of working people and professions. Winning Chipping Barnet will be no easy task but I am sure Emma will continue the good work of local Labour councillors to campaign across the constituency, knock on every door and take the seat.’
Emma Whysall said:
‘I am honoured to be reselected to fight Chipping Barnet at the next election for Labour. This part of North London is incredibly important to me and deserves a Labour MP who shares the views and values of local residents. I look forward to campaigning with Andrew and turning Chipping Barnet Labour.
‘A General Election cannot come soon enough between a disastrous Brexit and Tory Austerity the residents of Chipping Barnet have suffered enough under this Government.
‘I am grateful for Andrew’s support and endorsement. I look forward to working with him on the local issues he has picked up on – such as improving safety on Stirling Corner, keeping the 384 bus route, and blocking a bad development at North London Business Park.’
