Dismore questions Transport for London over public awareness and information for the Olympics

During a meeting of the London Assembly Transport Committee, Andrew Dismore, Labour London Assembly member for Barnet and Camden, questioned TfL over the extent of public awareness and preparedness over people’s transport arrangements during the Olympics.

Mr Dismore was told that there have been over 1 million hits on the website “Get Ahead of the Games” (put in website link) for details of transport plans during the Games.

After the meeting, Mr Dismore said:

“I would encourage anyone planning to travel around London during the Games to visit the TfL website (www.tfl.gov.uk) for up to date information about what is happening on the road, rail and underground network and to plan ahead accordingly.

I welcome the fact that TfL have been working with Sat Nav providers to ensure their directions reflect road restrictions during the Olympics and that drivers will not be directed to follow impossible or illegal routes, but I was surprised that TfL were apparently unaware that there is a special edition of the A to Z with the restricted Olympic “Zil Lanes” marked for use by the Olympics “family” and I proposed  that this should be made available to the public for purchase. “
