Coleman fails to question police numbers

The Metropolitan Police’s response to my Freedom of Information requests concerning London Assembly member Brian Coleman clearly reveal that he has not written once to the Met since 2008 about police officer numbers, Safer Neighbourhood Teams or their deployments. This was confirmed by a further FoI after the riots, which he also did not write about. He may well have asked about individuals’ issues, but the Assembly role is supposed mainly to be a strategic one, and he has clearly not fulfilled this task.
Similarly, further FoI responses show Mr Coleman has not written to the Government about housing issues including the draconian benefits cuts or the shortage of affordable and social homes for rent . He has not written to Transport for London on any strategic issues concerning the Northern Line, the bus network, or cycling issues. He has not written even once to senior Camden Council officers (bearing in mind he also “represents” Camden as well as Barnet) about anything whatsoever.
I hope that Mr Coleman is not so barefaced as to claim that all these bodies (and others) have all of them mislaid his correspondence. Maybe he should spend more time on his strategic position on behalf of the two boroughs, and less time making a misery of the lives of Barnet’s car owners with his outrageous parking charges and confetti of unfair parking tickets .
