Press release: Dismore to chair London Assembly’s Economy Committee

At the first Annual Meeting of the London Assembly, newly elected member for Barnet and Camden, Andrew Dismore AM, was elected as chair of the Assembly’s Economy Committee.

Mr Dismore said:

“I am looking forward to this important role over the next year. There is no doubt that the economy is just about the most important challenge facing London at present, with high levels of unemployment, the decline in manufacturing in  the capital, and the problems facing the high street amongst many other issues we need to address, as we fulfil our responsibility of scrutinising the Mayor’s economic strategy and performance.

The committee will shortly set its forward work programme and I hope there will be consensus about the priorities for us to investigate.”

Mr Dismore has also been appointed to the Budget and Performance Committee, the Transport Committee and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.
