Local Labour London Assembly Members Andrew Dismore and Joanne McCartney have today written to Mayor Boris Johnson asking him to join them on a visit to the former Middlesex University campus on Cat Hill.

Last night Enfield Council voted to give the proposed development the go-ahead despite overwhelming local opposition.

Barnet Labour London Assembly Member Andrew Dismore said:

“Despite originally rejecting this application – a rarity in such cases – Enfield Council decided to vote for the application last night. I urge Boris Johnson to intervene and listen to local people, especially local Barnet residents who will be affected by increased traffic, lack of local parking and increased blight in the area.”

Enfield Labour London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney said:

“The proposed development still does not meet the standards I would expect from L & Q. Residents in Cockfosters and Oakwood are affected by this and I am standing by those residents. I urge the Mayor to join us on a visit of the site so he can see for himself what local people think of this.”
