Mayor’s bus running four years late

During the London Assembly plenary meeting on 9th October, Andrew Dismore AM, Labour London Assembly member for Barnet and Camden reminded Mayor Johnson of his commitments concerning the need for a bus route from Stamford Hill to Golders Green.

After the meeting Mr Dismore said:

London Travel Watch identified the need for this bus after an extensive survey of the Orthodox Jewish Community as long ago as 2009. If anything, the unmet demand they proved for this route has grown since then.

In 1976, the 210 route went as far as Golders Green, before they decided it should terminate at Brent Cross.

The most obvious solution is to extend the 210 route to Golders Green and Stamford Hill, which would significantly reduce car traffic and enable students to travel to their classes, and friends and relatives to keep in touch much more easily.

Mayor Johnson has repeatedly obfuscated about this, trying to kick the proposal into the long grass, and it was important today to take the opportunity to remind him of his pre-election promises.

I hope that we will now see some real progress on this long awaited and badly needed public transport improvement”.
