Edgwarebury Farm Victory – (For the time being at least)!

Andrew Dismore Labour London Assembly member for Barnet and Camden has just learned that the developers have today withdrawn the plans to build a golf course on Edgwarebury Farm.

Mr Dismore said:

“Although this may well not be the end of the story, it is very welcome news indeed.

It is a pity that local people have been put to such grief, worry and aggravation over the last few months, but together we have spoken loud and clear and the result we have achieved is a testament to the strength of the community, acting as one in in its opposition to this scheme and our desire to keep the historic farm land intact for future generations to enjoy.

A word of caution: this may not be the end of the story, as the developer may well come back with revised plans at a future date: should he do so I will of course fight them as before, to defeat all such unwarranted attacks on our green belt.

Nevertheless this is a really important result for community action at its best, and congratulations all round to everyone who signed the petition, wrote in objections and backed the campaign in so many different ways!”.
