Tory shame at children car smoking ban

Andrew Dismore, Labour parliamentary candidate for Hendon has questioned the record of local Conservative MPs on the vote to ban smoking in cars in which children are travelling as passengers.

Mr Dismore said:

“This is a really important advance to help preserve children’s health and to encourage them not to smoke themselves, when they get older. It is a shame that Chipping Barnet’s MP Theresa Villiers opposed the ban, but what is even worse is that Hendon’s Conservative MP Mr Offord did not even bother to show up and has not offered an explanation for his absence. He seems to care more about the health of dogs than of children. Animal welfare is of course important, but even more so is the health of Hendon’s children, about which he apparently cares not a jot.”
