Labour’s energy bill freeze for Hendon blocked by Conservatives: and where was Offord?

Last Wednesday, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats in Parliament blocked Labour’s proposal to freeze gas and electricity bills until 2017, which would save a typical family £120.

Mr Offord, Hendon’s Conservative MP, didn’t turn up for the vote on the energy freeze and thus denied 44,912 households in Hendon a freeze on their bills.

Andrew Dismore, Labour parliamentary candidate for Hendon said:

“Labour will freeze gas and electricity bills until 2017, set up a new, more effective watchdog and break up the six big energy companies to help hardworking families get the best deal.

Hundreds of Hendon residents  have signed the  petition in support of the  campaign I have been running in Hendon calling on David Cameron to freeze gas and electricity bills now. I know that people in Hendon feel ripped off by the energy companies and this Conservative -led Government is doing nothing to help. It is a disgrace that the Conservative MP could not even be bothered to turn up to vote.”
