Closure of police stations
Question No: 2015/0251
Andrew Dismore
Is the Mayor aware that a recent death at an illegal all-night rave took place within a former police station in Stockwell? Is he concerned that leaving former police premises empty opens the way to squatters (as in Hampstead) and illegal all-nighters? Is he also concerned that by removing the public manifestation of police presence through police station closures an increasingly proletarianised police service will be perceived to have only a street-level role rather than as a key role within the community?

Officers are drafting a response which will be sent shortly.
