Dismore calls for extra protection for places of worship

At Mayor’s Question Time  Andrew Dismore AM, Labour London Assembly member for Barnet and Camden raised the need for extra security and reassurance police patrols for mosques and synagogues, after the terrorist attacks in Paris and for Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism to be confronted in all their forms:

Speaking after the session, Mr Dismore said:

‘At times like this , it is  inevitable that people will feel threatened and insecure, especially those of the Muslim and Jewish faiths, and it is important that our police service continues to be conscious of this and responds accordingly.  we also need to challenge racism whenever it occurs and especially Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism which  feeds on murderous events like we have seen in Paris. The daubing of a swastika on a wall near to Highgate Synagogue is such an example which I raised with the Mayor.

I am pleased  to say the Mayor was in complete agreement with what I had to say.’
