Dismore condemns ‘Hate Preacher’ Trump’s ban on 19,000 Barnet and Camden residents and 150,000 Londoners
Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has condemned President Trump’s controversial ban on Muslim country nationals entering the USA. The ban affects those born in Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan and Syria, which includes almost 13,000 Barnet residents and 6,000 Camden residents- and a total of 150,000 London-wide.
Mr Dismore said:
“President Trump’s policy is insulting and deeply inflammatory. He claims British people born in seven countries are not really British and are in effect a threat to the USA. It is outrageous that 19,000 of my constituents and 150,000 Londoners are now banned from travelling to the USA altogether, or face lengthy, demeaning and discriminatory extra security checks as a result of his prejudices.”

“In the recent past I campaigned against Gábor Vona, leader of the Hungarian far-right Jobbik Party visiting the UK. and against the French racist ‘comedian’ Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala, who at the time then Home Secretary Theresa May rightly banned.
“While she may now instead think it is the correct thing to do to suck up to those with extreme views like President Trump, I see in sexist, misogynist Trump, and in his appalling rhetoric against Muslims, Black people, Mexicans, and others, arguably the world’s most powerful ‘hate preacher’ and someone who is likely to reignite the fires of Islamist extremism rather than damp them down.”
