Dismore urges shoppers to support small businesses this Christmas
Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore visited the High Street in High Barnet this week in an effort to drum up support for local businesses in the run up to small business Saturday on 2nd December.
Mr Dismore said:
‘I wrote to Barnet Council urging more effort to promote Small Business Saturday. There is more and more pressure on small businesses and high street retail because of supermarkets and online shopping, but most people understand the value of vibrant high streets and local shops. We won’t have them though unless we support them with our feet and with our wallets!
‘I hope that next year will also bring a Labour Council that cares about local businesses, and will look at issues like business rates, parking policies and the environment on high streets, as well as promote community festivals and events where businesses benefit.’
