Mayor Khan makes large contribution to Holborn community centre

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has awarded £600,000 to help establish a sustainable and accessible community hub in the Holborn Community Association’s 60-year-old community centre to enable a 50 per cent increase in service provision to the Holborn community and the provision of affordable workspace.

The bid was won through the Mayor’s “Good Growth Fund” which seeks to enable local communities to play a key role in regeneration. The funding was welcomed by Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore, who said:

‘This is yet another big award from Sadiq Khan for improving services in Camden, and shows the difference he is making. The Mayor launched the Good Growth Fund to help create a city where no community is left behind and everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.’

Local Councillor Awale Olad added:

‘HCA is an important local facility and provides much needed services for the community. We are grateful to the Mayor and GLA for recognising this important community asset and funding it accordingly. HCA has very big ambitions to becoming a leading sports facility for the community and this investment is crucial to achieving that aspiration.’
