London Living Wage rises to £10.55

Responding to the announcement that the London Living Wage is rising to £10.55, Labour’s London Assembly Economy Spokesperson, Andrew Dismore AM, said:

“This significant boost to the London Living Wage will be a fantastic help to those struggling to get by.

“In London, we feel the rising cost of living more acutely than anywhere else, particularly due to the extremely high cost of housing.  With a no deal or bad deal Brexit on the horizon, economic uncertainty and its subsequent impact on food prices and other key costs will further hit the lowest paid the hardest.

“We now need more employers to sign up to the London Living Wage.

“Whilst the Government recently announced an increase in the National Living Wage, this still falls short of what Londoners actually need to earn to climb out of the grasp of poverty. They must now go further.”
