Cocaine users
Question No: 2018/2957
To: Mayor and Commissioner, MPS
Andrew Dismore
The Commissioner has rightly spoken out against well off people who use classA drugs such as cocaine, in the mistaken belief that this is a ‘victimless crime’. Will you encourage the Met to treat such offenders seriously, for example using stop and search and sniffer dogs at tube stations?
Written response from the Mayor
The Met holds regular joint operations with British Transport Police, and other partners, targeting transport hubs. Operations are intelligence led, deploying a wide range of tactics that target drugs possession and those using the transport network to transport larger volumes of drugs or to commit other crimes.
The Met have officers in Safer Transport Command who work in partnership with Transport for London targeting criminality on the wider Transport Network, including drug possession.

Brexit and security
Question No: 2018/2959
To: Mayor and Commissioner, MPS
Andrew Dismore
What would be the impact of a no deal Brexit on the Capital’s security and resilience?
Written response from the Mayor
I refer to you the comments made at Mayor’s Question Time on 19 October.
The MPS and partners in London’s Resilience Forum are in the process of mapping out the effects a no deal Brexit would have on the safety, security, and preparedness of London.
What is clear is that the loss, even partially, of access to our existing security cooperation arrangements with the EU will be detrimental to the safety and security of Londoners. Our response to serious and organised crime and terrorism will be diminished, it will take longer to conduct international enquiries and investigations, and our influence in combatting cross-border crime will suffer. This is the stark reality of the consequences of a no deal Brexit.
