TfL to look again at 384 bus proposals

Transport for London (TfL) have announced that they are going to re-examine their scheme to extend the 384 bus from High Barnet to Edgware, after a campaign by residents, led by East Barnet Labour Councillors Jo Cooper and Laurie Williams and Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore, which encouraged over 1,300 people  to respond to the consultation and object to re-routing the service from residential streets around New Barnet.

Mr Dismore said:

‘This is good news, and TfL have listed to local residents, local Labour Councillors and myself. I was pleased to submit a petition to TfL objecting to the changes and we look forward to their new proposals. The Conservative government have done enormous damage to Transport in London with their savage cuts to the TfL budget, which is why it is so hard to put in additional resources when seeking to extend bus routes.’

Cllr Jo Cooper added:

‘Laurie and I have been working hard with local residents, who worked with us to collect hundreds of petition signatures, and encourage over 1,300 direct responses to the consultation. We are grateful to Andrew for his support too. This bus route is highly valued by residents in East Barnet and New Barnet for serving residential streets that would otherwise be without a bus service.’
