Dismore welcomes new step free access at West Hampstead Overground station

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore has welcomed news that the two new lifts from street to platform at West Hampstead Overground Station have been switched on and are serving customers.

The installation of lifts form part of a programme of works at the station which cost a total of £12.5m, including £3m from the Department for Transport’s Access for All scheme. This is the largest project to date to have benefitted from the programme.

Mr Dismore said:

‘I am very pleased that the new lifts have been installed and are working. There are three important stations in West Hampstead, and it is becoming a very important interchange. Step-free access will improve passenger experiences and make public transport available to more people, and I have long campaigned for these improvements. I hope the next on the list is providing step-free access for the Jubilee Line Station, but it will be some time before this can be done.’
