Dismore calls for speed limits on tube during reduced services to combat tube noise

Local London Assembly Member, Andrew Dismore AM, is calling upon Transport for London (TfL) to introduce temporary speed limits on tube lines in locations affected by tube noise. As a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, the tube is running a limited service, and the introduction of speed limits would not have an impact on capacity.

Mr Dismore said:

‘Tube noise is still a real issue, especially now, as people are at home much more due to the lockdown. It would be a welcome relief to those who endure noise if speeds can be reduced in the worst areas, which will reduce the vibration that causes the noise. This would only be a temporary measure, but it can now be done feasibly.’
