update from TfL on Camden High Street pavement widening

As you know, the section of Camden High Street between Camden Town Tube station and Mornington Crescent Tube station forms part of the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN). In discussion with Camden Council officers, we identified the need to provide more footway space for people to maintain social distancing on this section of our highway during the Covid-19 outbreak.

We have now extended the space available to pedestrians on the eastern side of Camden High Street, between property addresses no. 60 and no.158. This is the section of the High Street between Greenland Street and Plender Street. We have used temporary materials and barriers which allow pedestrians to use one lane of road carriageway, as well as the pavement. Signage has been erected to make pedestrians aware of this change.

We will keep this measure under review and, if necessary, consider further changes along the High Street – as well as on other parts of our network.
