Press Release: Future of Hampstead Police Station “not clear”

Andrew Dismore, Labour London Assembly member for Barnet  and Camden  has today written to the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime,  Stephen Greenhalgh,  to  try and get answers on the future of Hampstead, Albany Street and West Hampstead Police Stations.

Prior to today’s news report, only last month Mayor Johnson had released a list of police stations that were due to be closed in the 2012/13. Hampstead Police Station was not on that list.

Labour London Assembly Member Andrew Dismore said “The move is deeply worrying, and completely out of the blue. I will be taking this issue up as a matter of urgency with the Deputy Mayor for Policing & Crime and will also raise this in my next meeting with the Camden Borough Commander of the Metropolitan Police. What we are seeing are police cuts by stealth and I expect a lot more to come under Mayor Johnson mayoralty.  The future of our local stations is not clear.”
