Letter with Cllr Anne Clarke to Ham and High on TfL funding
Ham and High readers will already be left worse off by the Conservative government’s proposed funding settlement for TfL. They are demanding an increase in council tax taxes on all Londoners; and also insist on scrapping all free travel for under 18s and over 60s.
The Conservative Government’s demand to extend the congestion charge to the North Circular will cripple local businesses and hit local residents too. How can it be fair for parents to pay £15 per day – £75 per week – for the school run, or £15 or the weekly supermarket shop?
If they don’t get their own way, like a cynical playground bully the Government is threatening to take over TfL anyway.
We have seen how vindictive the Conservative Government has been towards Manchester, now they are turning on London.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew Dismore AM
London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden
Cllr Anne Clarke
